We are currently in the throes of yet another virulent attempt to rehash the Bitcoin energy debate. This time the plan isn't to ban mining or put a premium on green Bitcoin; the perpetrators want to change Bitcoin’s code altogether. In other words, they seek to destroy Bitcoin.A $50M campaign dubbed “Change the Code, Not the Climate” is preparing to launch in full force next month. Behind this campaign are Ripple’s co-founder Chris Larsen, Green Peace USA and a handful of activist groups. This is going to be a failure of colossal proportions. Many already despise the Ripple community. Now they are being associated with an outright attack on the strongest and most well-reinforced crypto community. The XRP army stands no chance against the Bitcoin army. The campaign has already backfired and it hasn’t even started yet. The mere announcement and idea has sparked fierce opposition, triggering advocates for Bitcoin and the crypto community as a whole. Although a few proof-of-stake maxis used the campaign as fuel for arguments against their proof-of-work counterpart, even most ETH supporters found the entire thing to be a crock of shit. Bitcoin’s code is not going to change based on the suggestions of a Ripple executive and a virtue signaling climate group with no skin in the game. There is literally no chance. Bitcoin’s code can change for the better based on consensus, but cannot be altered by force from outsiders. We saw Taproot gain unanimous support from the community, but other "upgrade" attempts to make a "better" Bitcoin like Bitcoin Cash, BSV and Bitcoin Gold, never made it. They are mutated failures. This is a classic example of pointing to a problem (one that doesn’t even exist) and demanding change without a solution. How about all of the ways in which Bitcoin has improved the renewable energy economy of the U.S? I guess this point doesn't further the agenda these groups are pushing.Bitcoin isn't going to change, we are.Bitcoin wasn't designed to adapt to criminal enterprises, perverse incentives, or fear mongering lunatics. If it doesn't budge for these groups, then a few bad actors making pathetic demands don't stand a chance. A $50M PR campaign is nothing compared to an impeccable $900B asset. You don't change Bitcoin, Bitcoin changes you. Little by little, the world is waking up to the idea that Bitcoin is the solution to a myriad of problems. Seeing this reality play out is the major change that I anticipate in the coming years. In This Issue:Bitcoin Isn’t Changing, We Are.Holders Lead The Way - IntoTheBlockBitcoin Thoughts And AnalysisAltcoin ChartsThe Bitcoin ObituaryWeekly RoundtableThe Ronin Hack Has A (Somewhat) Happy EndingWill Smith InuThe Wolf Of All Streets Podcast Ft.
