Kennedy challenged every American to contribute to the greater good of society. His speech did more than just temporarily inspire a nation; it set in motion a precedent for great leaders and common people to follow and live by forever. JFK’s guidance wasn’t just intended for national politics; it was meant to be incorporated into every part of our daily lives. If you believe that change starts with the individual and that our society can greatly benefit from crypto technology, then I challenge you to consider how you can make a difference. Because right now, we need all hands on deck.It has become explicitly clear that our community needs self reflection and repair. This is not about regulators, adoption or institutions, but rather about a shift back to our core ideals.Anyone that has been in crypto for a long time can feel the transition away from the signature traits that once defined us. It’s getting harder and harder to describe ourselves as, “financial revolutionaries, grassroots activists, passion-inspired, tight-knit, and community-driven.”When we collectively lose sight of the bigger picture, we quickly divide into small, tribal communities.Rather than championing fundamentally moral and ethical technology, we cheer on meme coins.Instead of supporting growing projects, we search for unsustainable yields.NFT flipping, metaverse real estate brokerages, yield farming on Mars - this is all fun and potentially profitable, but it's also a bit ridiculous, especially when viewed from an external lens. These are an important and vibrant part of what crypto has to offer, but they are far from the core ethos that drives us and that we should be sharing with the world.Just recently, we cheered on a government airdrop from a war-torn country, and were infuriated when it didn't happen. We pushed away the godfather of DeFi. We have made headlines for the wrong reasons. This is all a part of our growth, and no permanent damage has been done. It is just essential that we refocus on what matters, especially in context of a desperate world in the throws of war and economic pain.I believe that crypto and blockchain technology can improve the lives of people all over the world. If we want the world to share this view, we need to stop publicly chasing meme coins and promoting imitation NFTs.As with any hype cycle, the dust will eventually settle. The real projects will grow and attract the next wave of sustainable investors. They will need our help to accomplish this task. The Chart Request Live Stream is now at 10:00 AM EST on Wednesdays.
