Conducted by NYDIG, the data was pulled from a sample of 2,184 adults using an online survey platform. The adult U.S. population is around 78% of the U.S. total population, meaning there are about 256M adults. Based on the data from the survey, about 18% of adults own Bitcoin, which seems high. The official report calculated that 22% of adults owned Bitcoin, but other sources that took their data at face value came to the same figures as me. Regardless of the figures, below is a better way to look at the numbers. The Bitcoin Rich List is a novel way of looking at the distribution of the coins held in all Bitcoin wallets. It gives you an idea of what percentage of the world you fall into based on how many sats you have stacked. Let's see how the NYDIG numbers add up. With the adult population at 256m, 20% of that is 51.2m adults. Here is how the breakdown of their holdings will theoretically look. 76% of them don't hold more than .01 BTC, and 91.52% don’t hold more than .1 BTC. This does assume that the world’s distribution tracks the U.S. population, but even giving a few more points to the U.S. holders because the US is a wealthier nation still proves my coming point. If you are reading this letter, there is a good chance you have been around for a while and have hopefully stacked close to .1 BTC or more. Surpassing .1 BTC means you are definitely ahead of 90% of the world's population that owns Bitcoin. In other words, a slight shift in perspective turns this set of facts into a net positive for a lot of holders reading this. And if you happen to be an Ethereum holder over Bitcoin or any other coin, you're probably even higher on the list because all other cryptocurrencies are younger than Bitcoin - meaning you have arrived before the masses and are "earlier." It may be popular for the mainstream media to lead you to believe that we are no longer early, but that simply isn't the case - Bitcoin is still only few small steps onto its path towards world domination. If you have stacked any Bitcoin, you are doing great.Today is a holiday in the United States, so there will be no livestream.
